Types of Font Licenses
The license for the software is the legal agreement between the developer and the user. It defines what you can do with it and what rights you have.
There are three types of licenses: proprietary, open source, or public domain.
Proprietary licenses are used when developers want to protect their intellectual property from being copied without their permission.
Open source licenses are used when developers want to share their code freely with others as long as they credit those who contributed to it.
When developers don’t want to restrict how people use their work, public domain licenses are used.
But as far as Free Sublimation Fonts, we need to worry about the simple versions of use, personal use, and commercial use.
Personal use– free for personal, non-commercial use
Commercial use– allows you to sell the products you made with the font in most cases.
Always be sure to check the license information for each font you download for use and be sure it is a commercial use license, or commercial purposes are allowed. Sometimes it is labeled Font usage agreement or license grant.
Free Font Websites
The following is a list of websites you can use to find a variety of free fonts. Free fonts are a great way to build up your font collection, but again, check the license agreement before using it for commercial purposes.
Dafont.com – This website has an extensive collection of free fonts for personal and commercial use. Fonts include modern, hand-painted textured designs and fonts with calligraphy embellishment.

How to Pick the Right Font
Choosing the right font is an essential step in designing any content. The font can be used to create a mood and tone that is appropriate for the content. It can also help to convey the message of the text more effectively.
There are three main factors that you need to consider when choosing a font: personality, readability, and compatibility.
Personality: Fonts have different personalities, so choosing one that matches your content’s personality is essential. For example, fonts with rounded edges are usually meant for playful or informal texts, while fonts with sharp edges are traditionally meant for formal texts.
Readability: When choosing a font size, it’s important to make sure that it is large enough for readers to be able to read comfortably without having to struggle.
Compatibility: The first thing to consider is the color of your font. It should contrast with the background in order to be legible and readable. You should also think about the size of your font and how it will affect your layout. The last thing you want is an illegible mess of text on a page because you didn’t think about the size or color of your font before hand.
Remember, when picking a font for a project, you need to keep the following in mind:
Fonts should provide a strong visual effect and enhance your design, not distract from it.
The readability of the users is also equally important because you wouldn’t want a Halloween-type font on a Christmas project as an example.
Most important is the beauty of your design because if it isn’t beautiful, people aren’t going to want to purchase it. When you pick the right fonts the design will pop and you will know you have picked the best fonts for your sublimation projects.
Skinny handwritten font: Apple Butter is my favorite Skinny Handwritten font. It also looks a lot like a Rae Dunn font, making it an excellent choice for crafters.
Simple handwritten font: The Skinny font fits the simple handwritten font description and is a close runner-up to Apple Butter.
The Contemporary fonts collection has over 1,000 fonts to choose from, so I’m positive you will find the right one for your sublimation design project.
Classic fonts: Classic fonts include most fonts with a classic feel and even retro fonts. Royal King Font is one I use a lot, but I also love the Retro & Classic Font Bundle!
New fonts there is no shortage of new fonts being released, sometimes even daily, but at least weekly.
Fancy fonts-Give you lots of font choices to elevate your projects to a new level.

Font system
If you are looking for an organizational system for your fonts, I have you covered with my font system. In my Sublimation Management Binder, I have a page labeled Free Fonts. I write in the Font Name, Font Type, Commercial Use, Personal Use, Source (URL), and the download date. That way, I can quickly check to make sure it is a legal font for me to create products with if I’m selling them commercially.
Free Download of the above sheet can be downloaded: Free-Font-Tracker.pdf, or if you want the entire binder, you can purchase it here.
After installing them onto my computer, I move the files to a backup hard drive with a folder for Fonts. That way, I don’t have to re-download them and have them in case I have to purchase a new computer. Just be sure you have a system in place to keep your files organized; I file mine by “type of fonts.” But your file manager (management system) has to work best for you; otherwise, you won’t use it.
