When you are just getting started, you have lots and lots of questions. My goal is to be your one-stop-shop for all of your Sublimation Printing Questions and, of course, answers. While I’m positive, I won’t have all of the answers immediately, and I will do my best to help you find the answer if I don’t know the answer myself.
When I first started with Sublimation, I was used to HTV and Vinyl iron-ons. While using Sublimation is a different craft, you can use some of the same materials. (More on that later)..But what I found was all of the charts were for HTV and or Vinyl and not for Sublimation. So I did a few projects (hundreds, but who is counting), and I learned a lot in the process. One of the things that I learned was that having a Sublimation Sizing & Placement Chart was one of the keys to success.

What printers can be used for Sublimation?
One of the questions I’ve seen over and over again is Can any printer do sublimation? Any printer that has the ability to use a compatible cartridge and sublimation ink can be used to do Sublimation Printing. You even have to load Sublimation paper into the printer of your choice.
The most common are the first two on the list.
- Epson Workforce WF-7710 -Does not have a scanner or copy machine.
- Epson Workforce WF-7720 (has 2 trays as opposed to one) *This is the one I purchased and it’s HUGE! It has a scanner, a copier, and the 2nd tray is used for paper storage here.
- Any other Workforce printers that you can find refillable cartridges for can be switched over for subbing.
- SAWGRASS Virtuoso SG400-It was designed for Sublimation Printing
- Sawgrass SG800-Perfect for producing small products at high volumes.
- Canon SEPHY CP1300- Comes with Dye-sublimation technology
- Epson Eotank 16600-Works for bigger prints as it has an 11×17 option.

My best advice is this: You will see people saying they have trouble with any printer. Pick the printer that will do the job at the price point you will pay.

Where do you put a picture on the back of a shirt?
If you are placing a design on the back of a shirt it should be about 4 inches from the collar and centered between the left and right seams. Use the center crease and four inches down from the center of the neckline.

Standard answer is:
Infant 3″-6″ (use the chart above)
Toddler size: 4″-6″ inches
Youth sizes: 6.5″-8.5″ inches
Adult sizes: 8.5″-11.5″ inches
